Scam warning

SAIF has become aware of a scam whereby a person contacts a funeral business to buy a coffin to keep a body at home. They pay in advance for the coffin, but they ‘accidentally’ overpay the amount. The person then contacts the funeral business to ask for a refund of the overpaid amount.

Once the funeral business pays the refund amount, they realise that the initial cheque has bounced so they are out of pocket.
