Scam alert from SAIF member about High Court ruling

SAIF thanks member Allwood of Totnes for information about a scam call they received from someone claiming to be Stephen King from Worcester Combined Court. The man claimed that the company owed £2999.65 to the Business Directory, and that, since they hadn’t responded to any communications, a case was being made against them in the ‘High Court’.  The company knew nothing about the Business Directory, so asked for correspondence. The caller couldn’t send anything but forwarded the bank details for the court.  When asked for a contact telephone number, the man gave the number 01254 54743 and advised he was ringing from the court house.  When Allwoods searched for this number online they found information about a scam operating on the number.
