SAIF responds to National Resilience Strategy consultation

SAIF recently submitted a detailed response to the UK Government’s National Resilience Strategy Call for Evidence. On behalf of independent funeral directors, SAIF argued strongly for:

  • Formal recognition of funeral directors as category 2 first responders to ensure fast and frictionless access to emergency equipment and assets such as PPE and vaccines
  • A consistent Local Resilience Forum protocol across England to ensure funeral directors are treated as important stakeholders in the LRF framework
  • A single working group composed of representatives from different arms of Government to ensure a seamless and agile working relationship with the different departments of state, such as the Department of Health and Social Care, Ministry of Justice, and Department for Work and Pensions.

SAIF also contributed to the death management sector’s response to the National Resilience Strategy Call for Evidence as part of its membership of the Deceased Management Advisory Group (DMAG).
