Cruse celebrates 60 years of supporting bereaved people

Cruse was established by Margaret Torrie in 1959 to provide support for widows through a network of Cruse Clubs. At the time, widows faced considerable financial and practical challenges and there was very little information available to hep them understand and cope with their grief.

Over the years, the charity expanded to help widowers, children and eventually all bereaved people. They have nearly 5,000 trained volunteers, able to help people in a variety of ways, including providing support after national disasters and tragedies.

More information is available on their website.
