ITV documentary on funeral costs on 1st October
01/10/2020 // No Comments| SAIF would like to alert members to a television documentary being aired this evening, 1st October, at 7.30 pm on ITV (not Wales, STV Central, STV North) about the funeral profession. Titled ‘Funerals: the true cost?’, ITV’s flagship current affairs show investigates our sector and in particular its approach to pricing.
SAIF has liaised with ITV researchers in the making of this programme but we were not given an opportunity for a SAIF representative to be interviewed. We are concerned that the programme may not be balanced and have made these concerns known to ITV, however we reserve full judgment until we have seen the show. We encourage members to watch the programme, however, if you are minded to join conversations on social media whilst the show is on air, please remember that you are representing your profession and try to avoid emotional responses to criticism. SAIF will be viewing and will comment after the programme, strongly defending independent funeral directors where we feel you have been misrepresented. We will also follow-up with ITV Tonight with our observations and concerns and we would like to hear from you at info@saif.org.uk with your views, which may be fed into our response. |
