CMA Legal Order – online pricing

16/06/2021   //   No Comments

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) today (16/06/21) published a legally binding order which requires funeral businesses to adhere to specific requirements. In particular, funeral companies must display their prices in accordance with a pre-determined template, along with other transparency measures.

Funeral directors will then have three months in which to comply with the Legal Order so pricing information must be online by 16th September 2021.

Additionally, members with more than five branches will need to submit information about funeral numbers and revenue to the Authority twice a year. To help members achieve compliance as quickly and seamlessly as possible, SAIF is developing a set of resources, including information and guidance, webinars and expert support. Please login to the Members’ area to access information, including a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document.

SAIF encourages members to comply as soon as possible, rather than leaving it until the end of the implementation period. Those who face technical challenges complying with the Legal Order, for example making amendments to a website, should contact SAIF Business Centre via info@saif.org.uk at the earliest opportunity for signposting to appropriate forms of assistance.
