Recorded webinar: Direct cremations

Event Date: 31st December 2024

How have attitudes changed towards death and funerals since the pandemic?

Since March 2020 the pandemic has dominated life and also death. Society has changed in how it deals with death, bereavement and funeral choices.

At a time when the CMA was focusing on the practical aspects of buying a funeral, the Church of England (C of E) investigated the emotional aspects of funerals and how they influence the choices people make. Last year they conducted a survey with 2008 people on their views on death and grieving, their knowledge of funeral options and the choices they would make.

Join Sandra Millar, Head of Life Events at the C of E, as she describes the research project and its findings, which highlighted:

  • the growing awareness of direct cremations
  • the rejection of the traditional funeral by some age groups
  • the benefits of a traditional funeral when dealing with grief.
