Kee Cup Golf Competition – 13th to 15th May

Twenty five years ago, Gary Neill, Funeral Director, with Peter Bowden and Brian Hart (SAIFInsure), created a golf competition, Ryder Cup style, with Funeral Directors vs the Trade Suppliers and this was also the birth of the most successful funeral director’s insurance scheme, which at the time was a new venture.  There is no doubt that SAIFInsure has and continues to benefit funeral directors with excellent cover at very competitive costs.   This competition was initially called the SAIFInsure Cup and through participation in the competition many friendships have formed, nick names have evolved (!) and many business deals have been done.

It is unusual for anything to last so long, there has been so much fun, with various traditions created along the way and over £20,000 raised for charity, led by the skill of the worst golfer ever – Brian (Augustus Gloop) Hart, the Finemaster.

In 2003, The SAIFInsure Cup was renamed the Kee Cup, in memory of the late Gordon Kee, co-founder of Golden Charter.

This year, to celebrate twenty five years of the SAIFInsure and SAIF relationship, the event is being  held at the world famous Turnberry Resort, Ayrshire, Scotland.  The competition is open to any SAIF Funeral Director or Trade Supplier, it’s an inclusive event and everyone is very welcome to play, regardless of ability.

The three day event, from Monday 13th May to Wednesday 15th May 2019, consists of three nights’ accommodation, three rounds of golf, team kit, three dinners, one being at a local fish restaurant, and the final one being a Presentation Gala Dinner, when the Finemaster will be a winner!

We are extending our invitation to any funeral directors or indeed trade to suppliers to play – we do have several spaces and can accommodate to the demand.  We are also looking for sponsorship for some little extras.
