Did you know that you could get heavily fined for distributing an email to several people and entering their email addresses so that they are visible to other recipients? To avoid such fines, ensure that where employees send bulk emails out on your behalf, they should only add the recipients to the ‘bcc’ field and NOT the ‘cc’ or ‘to’ fields.

An NHS Trust was fined £180,000 due a member of their staff inadvertently sending out an informative email with the full names of all recipients in the ‘to’ field.
