World Hospice & Palliative Care Day 2016July 8, 2016 // No Comments
World Hospice and Palliative Care Day will take place on Saturday 8th October 2016. It is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. This year’s theme is: ‘Living and dying in pain: It doesn’t have to happen’. It tackles the critical issue of access to essential medicines for pain management and palliative care worldwide. The theme also resonates with the advocacy work around the United Nations General Assembly special session on the world drug problem and on-going work on improving access to these controlled medications.
There are many things you can do during and in the days leading up to World Hospice and Palliative Care Day:
- Download the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day posters to print out and display in your place of work and community.
- Organise a World Hospice and Palliative Care Day event.
- Download a model letter to send to your minister of health, reminding them of their commitment to palliative care and access to controlled medicines for pain relief as part of the national healthcare system.
