Find out about SAIF’s New Counselling Service at our Education Day on 4th NovemberOctober 21, 2015 // No Comments
SAIF has identified the significant need for funeral directors to have their own counselling service. Funeral directors need to take care of their bereaved clients on a daily basis which can lead to a high level of emotional stress. To meet this need, SAIF has launched a free counselling service for members across the UK.
Executive Chairman, Alun Tucker commented, “This emotional stress is something I experienced during my time as a funeral director but unfortunately there was no counselling service available. I am very pleased to be able to launch SAIFSupport and I strongly encourage our members to make use of the service to discuss anything that is concerning them.”
The scheme, called ‘SAIFSupport’, will provide advice and guidance for funeral directors and their staff who look after families during the most difficult time of their life but often neglect their own mental wellbeing. It will run by Professional Help, a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, which specialises in counselling for workplace stress. Catherine Betley from Professional Help will be describing the new service for SAIF members at SAIF’s Education Day at Leicester on 4th November.
Alun encourages all SAIF Members to join him at the Education Day, which also includes presentations on DNA Memorials, Digital Autopsies, Social Media & Marketing, Hygiene in the Funeral Home and presentations to IFD College students. Find our more information about the event here.
