Laurence Jones Funeral Directors have a distinctive funeral home known as ‘The Castle House.’ laurence jones

SAIF welcomes new member Laurence Jones M.A., Dip. FD,  M.B.I.E., who began his funeral business in the Wirral in 1978.  His current premises at Bebington are said to be in the style, and almost a replica, of Lord Kitchener’s house in Khartoum.  Whether or not this “legend” is true, it is incontrovertible how much this elegant building lends itself so naturally to its use as a funeral home.

Laurence is joined in his business by his wife, Hilary, who also holds the Dip. FD, and for the last 13 years by their son, Roger, who graduated from Bath University with a foundation degree in Funeral Sciences.  In 1985, Laurence served as Chairman of the North West Division of the British Institute of Embalmers. In 2004 to 2005, Hilary had the honour to serve the community as Mayor of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral. Laurence was proud to serve as Mayor’s Consort.

In August 2012, Laurence Jones Funeral Directors opened a branch office at Elton, Cheshire, in the suburbs of Chester. As an independent concern, they believe SAIF to be the best organisation to look after “the little man.”
