Compassion in Dying recently published an online article on how meditation can help us approach the end of life in a new way.
Maneesha James of Osho Sammasati provides classes in helping people to prepare to die. In the same way that providing ante-natal care helps women prepare for child-birth, by providing support and information about death, people can be helped to face the practical, psychological and spiritual challenges which they will face at their time of death.
In addition to the practicalities of planning ahead, such as making a will and providing for dependents, there are psychological and spiritual issues which people may need to address. During the sessions, Maneesha helps clients work through emotions such as sadness, fear and anger. She uses meditation to help people let go of the need to control, to relax deeply and to be at peace.
