How do you check driving licences are valid?

With the paper counterpart of the photo driving licence being scrapped from 8th June this year, how can you identify restrictions or endorsements and that your staff are driving legally?

All driver information is now available via the Government website www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence.  An employer can view a person’s driving record to see information such as which type of  vehicles they’re permitted to drive, penalty points and disqualifications. To do this, the person needs to create a licence check code which allows them to share their driving record with someone their employer or a car hire company.

However please note that you cannot use this service if your licence was issued in Northern Ireland, to check the progress of a licence application or to check historical information, for example, expired penalty points or old driving licence entitlements.
