Fit for work launches

The Fit for Work advice service is now live and available for anyone requiring expert and impartial, work-related health advice, including employers, GPs and employees.

It’s designed to support people in work with health conditions and help with sickness absence. Employees will also soon be able to benefit from referral to a health professional if they have been off sick for four weeks or more. Fit for Work:

  • intends to complement, not replace, existing occupational health provision
  • can help reduce employer sick pay costs, by enabling employees to return to work earlier
  • can particularly benefit Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) which may have limited access to occupational health advice and services.

Fit for Work’s website includes a library of health related information including topics such as Flu in the Workplace, Hepatitis B Vaccinations and Tackling Employee Work Related Stress.  There is an online chat facility available on the website and a telephone advice line: 0800 032 6235.  Further information is available to SAIF Members by logging onto the Members’ Secure Area and selecting the Human Resources tab.
