The Office for National Statistics reports increase in number of deaths

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), 506,790 deaths were registered in England & Wales in 2013, compared with 499,331 in 2012, an increase of 1.5%.
ONS also report an increase in the number of deaths in week 31 (ending on 1st August) compared to the same week over the past five years. The provisional number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending 01/08/2014 (week 31) was 8,916. The average number of deaths for the corresponding week over the previous five years was 8,521.
