Great gathering at Newmarket

Around 30 local funeral directors and associate members gathered at the Rutland Arms Hotel, Newmarket for the Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk regional meeting on the evening of 21st May.

National President Mark Woollard gave an insight into his funeral career, plus his work for SAIF and the IFD College over a number of years.  Mark also talked about his chosen charity, CRISIS, which provides much needed support for homeless people.  Additionally, of course, he described his bee keeping exploits, which aroused a great interest.

Alun Tucker updated members about SAIF matters and the issues currently being worked on in the interests of members.  These include the Death Certification Reform Bill, the work of the Financial Conduct Authority and Direct Funerals. Brian Hart, gave a brief insight into the work that SAIFInsure has done over the past twenty years and its plans for the future.

If your insurance policies are due for renewal please give SAIFInsure an opportunity to give you a quote.

Alison Wilson, Head of Risk & Audit, updated the membership on events at Golden Charter.  Then Associate members Colourful Coffins, Oak Technology, Braemar Finance, Bradnams Joinery Ltd, the Much Loved Charitable Trust, Eulogica and ACS Clothing Ltd gave a brief resume of their products and services.

During the evening £162 was raised for CRISIS with a guess the mileage competition, won by Andrew Thornally from Kings Lynn. Included in the prize, once again, was a jar of the President’s award winning Mount Ephraim honey.

With such a good attendance and with a number of applications pending, SAIF has re-established itself in this region.
