Vehicle tax disc no longer needed

June 20, 2014   //   No Comments

From October 2014 motorists will no longer have to display their road tax disc in the windscreen of their vehicles.

The tax disc to show motorists have paid vehicle excise duty is to be replaced with an electronic system, 93 years after having been introduced in 1921.  The paper disc is no longer needed as the police now rely on an electronic register.  The new system will also allow people to pay the charge by monthly direct debit.
