Warning: Tread Cautiously with Care Homes Promotions

Member Alison Button of Button and Family Funeral Services called with a warning about a promotional agreement with a company known as ‘Approved Care Homes.’

Alison, based in Chatham, Kent, paid the care home organisation to become their recommended funeral director.  She believed that this would mean that her company would be promoted in leaflets in her area’s eight nominated care homes.  However, after paying for the service, Alison discovered that the local care homes hadn’t even heard of her company and were unaware of the scheme.

Alison has had a difficult experience with the company, who threatened to take her to court for failing to make further payments.  She wanted to warn SAIF members to be careful when entering into similar agreements.  She’s happy to talk to other affected SAIF members about her experiences.
