Norfolk funeral director Paul Allcock was appointed National President of SAIF at our AGM in March 2016.
He has been working in the funeral industry since the age of 17 and has supported our Executive for several years.
Together with his father Terry, three brothers Mark, Peter and Phillip and his sister Sharon, he opened family firm, Allcock Family Funeral Services in Norwich in 2000.
Today, the company employs a total of nine family members from three generations and arranges over 300 funerals every year.
As President of SAIF, Paul is a national voice for independent funeral directors, raising awareness and improving Government and public understanding of funeral costs and other important issues affecting the industry.
He also travels the UK to meet and support individual SAIF members, working hard to ensure their views are heard.
Paul has chosen Mind as his charity of the year – an organisation that provides advice and support for anyone experiencing a mental health problem, while also campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of this important issue.
Mental health is a cause we can all relate to as funeral directors as we support families during the difficult time of bereavement.
Among several events and fundraising initiatives planned to support Mind, Paul and the rest of his family have canoed the 60-mile Great Glen Canoe Trail that spans the breadth of Scotland from Bannavie to Inverness. To see how much he has raised, click here.
